Bangladesh is a densely populated country with a population of 160 million of which about 40 million are civilian labour force. A well developed education and training system has made this labour force very active and qualified to meet demands of domestic & foreign markets. Presently there are 15 Universities with 6 Engineering Universities &one Agricultural University, 10 Medical Colleges & one Post-Graduate Medical Institute, 12 Technical Training Centers, 60 Vocational Training Centers, 76 Nursing Training Centers, 9 Teachers Training Collages & thousands of School & Colleges for General Education.

 

Due to great priority extended to the educational & technical training under Government Education policy, the growth of educated and trained manpower has increased substantially over the years in almostevery sector and discipline. Over the last decade, Bangladesh exported a total of about five millions different categories of manpower to the Middle East Countries. Apart from Middle East countries, Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Maldives, Libya, South Africa, Nigeria, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Papua New Guinea, Mauritius& other countries are also importing manpower from Bangladesh. Professionals like Doctors, Engineers, Architects, Accountants& Nurses are also being recruited for the above countries.

 

Due to substantial growth taking place in general and technical education, Bangladesh Govt. has given special attention to export thesemanpower and in order to achieve the aim have set up a special Bureau by the name of Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET) headed by senior Govt. official to help grow the demand of Bangladeshi work force abroad through constant official visit, organizing seminar and marketing through the labour attaché of Bangladesh Embassy in the respective country. Bangladesh Embassy in respective country extends full co-operation to any prospective Employer who may like to import workers from Bangladesh.
